📃 Long post card
Create engaging, immersive content with longform, native articles using the long post card.
In tchop, you can publish content using different card types, ranging from short updates and media posts to links, discussions, or full articles. Each card type has a specific purpose. For in-depth, richly formatted articles, the long post card is the most flexible option.
Long post cards open natively inside the app, unlike Article cards which open web links. They can include text, images, galleries, quotes, embeds, audio, video, and more, allowing editorial teams to create engaging, immersive content.
The only mandatory field is the headline, but you can fully customise the teaser to create a visually interesting mix of cards in your feed.
👉 For an overview of all card types, see the Card Types.
1. What is a long post card
Long post cards are designed for longform, native articles. They allow editorial teams to embed full articles with rich formatting and media. Unlike Article cards that open in a web view, long post content opens in a native reader view within the app.
The post body can include almost anything from:
Images and image galleries
Embedded links and social content
Quotes, callouts, tables, and code blocks
Audio and video
PDF and other file formats
Embedded cards, mixes, or user profiles
Long post cards are basically what editorial teams can use to natively embed full articles. The only field that is always required is the headline. To create a stunning mix of cards, you can customise the teaser with an image, multiple teaser types, and text fields. Nothing looks more boring than an endless list of the same looking teasers.
Similar to Article cards, long post cards with images can have four different teaser types, but the card can also just use headline and source without an image.

Standard Default Type

Big Image Teaser

Small Image Teaser

No Image Teaser

2. Explaining long post content blocks
Long post cards are built using content blocks, which allow you to structure your article exactly the way you want. Each block has different formatting options and can include media, text, lists, tables, code, or even embedded content from other cards or mixes. Using blocks helps create rich, visually appealing, and easy-to-read articles.
💡 Hint: To apply formatting options, highlight the text you want to format — a new action toolbar will appear with the available formatting options.
💡 Hint: While inside the editor, you can undo/redo changes as many times as you like until the content is saved, or discard all changes by clicking Cancel or closing the editor without saving.
💡 Image gallery hint: To add a caption to an image in a gallery, click the "..." menu. Once a caption is added, the "..." icon changes to a pen icon. To edit or remove the caption, click the pen icon and make the changes.

3. Explaining long post teaser
The teaser is the short preview of your Long Post card that appears in the feed before a reader opens the full article. It gives readers a quick overview and entices them to click. You can customise the teaser with fields such as title, abstract, image, source, author, and style to make it more engaging. A well-structured teaser helps your content stand out and encourages more readers to open the full post.
💡 Hint: The first heading, first paragraph, and first image inside the editor automatically pre-fill the teaser, but you can customise it to make your card more visually appealing.
💡 Image hint: To add a copyright or change the teaser style for an image, click the "..." menu on the image.
Field | Limit | Type | App UI condition / Notes |
---|---|---|---|
Comment | 360 characters | Optional | Shown in full text |
Source | 160 characters | Optional | Shown in one line with "..." |
Title | 160 characters | Mandatory | Shown in full text |
Abstract | 700 characters | Optional | Shown in full text |
Image / GIF | 100 MB | Optional | Shows full image in different teaser style variants |
Copyright text | 160 characters | Optional | Shown in one line with "..." over image (only if image added) |
Teaser style | – | Optional | Standard, Small w/ intro, Small w/o intro, Big w/o intro |
Author field | 60 characters | Optional | Shown in one line with "..." |
💡 Tip: A well-customised teaser makes your card stand out in the feed and encourages readers to open the full post.
4. How to create a long post
Creating a Long Post card is simple and gives you full flexibility to structure your content. The teaser is automatically generated from your first heading, first paragraph, and first image (if available), but you can fully customise it.
Steps:
Click
Add Content
in your mix.Select
Full post
.If this option is not visible, it may be disabled in your organisation. Contact your admin.
The editor opens → create content using the available blocks (text, headings, lists, images, galleries, embeds, quotes, media, etc.).
💡 Hint: While inside the editor, you can undo/redo your changes as many times as you like until the content is saved. You can also discard all changes by clicking Cancel or closing the editor without saving.
💡 Tip: Use the Preview button (top right) to see how your article will look to readers.
💡 Hint: You can drag and drop image or media blocks to add them directly into your post.
💡 Hint: You can rearrange blocks by hovering over a block, clicking the six-dot handle on the left side, and dragging it to the desired position.
💡 Hint: Some blocks can be converted to a different block type. For example, you can convert a paragraph block into a heading or list block. However, you cannot convert a heading block into a media or link block. Availability depends on the block’s settings — if the option is disabled, you must remove the block and add a new one. To add a new block, place your cursor in a new paragraph/text block and select the desired block type.
Save changes → the teaser is automatically pre-filled using the first heading, first paragraph, and first image from your editor.
Customise the teaser with additional fields or make any desired changes (title, abstract, image, author, etc.).
Save your card → you can save it as a draft (unpublished), schedule it for later, or publish immediately, depending on your workflow. You can also apply tags, mention users, or adjust other settings as available — these depend on your organisation’s configuration and the options enabled by your org admin for that mix.
5. Editing and managing long post cards
Managing Long Post cards is straightforward and gives you flexibility to update both the teaser and the content.
Editing access: You can only edit Long Post cards via the web app, and only if you are the author, editor, or admin of the channel where the card was created.
If a card is synced, all settings and content are taken from the source card. To make any changes to a synced card’s settings or content, you must edit the source card.
Steps to edit:
Click the pen icon on the card in the feed, or click the three dots on the card → select Edit → the long post teaser preview appears.
To make changes in the teaser, update the fields directly in the teaser preview and click Save.
To edit the content blocks, click Open editor (top right) → make your changes → Save changes → update the teaser preview if needed → click Save again to finalise the updates.
💡 You can undo/redo changes in the editor at any time, or discard all changes by clicking Cancel or closing the editor without saving by clicking on the “X” on the top right.
💡 Hint: Once changes are saved, there is no way to revert to a previous version. Always use Preview to check the layout before saving.
6. Deleting long post
Deleting a Long Post card is permanent.
Steps:
Click the three dots on the card → Delete.
Confirm in the alert message.
⚠️ Important: Once deleted, the card cannot be restored.
💡 Tip: If unsure, consider saving as a draft instead of deleting.
7. Best practices and useful hints
Use Long Post for in-depth articles, reports, interviews, or blog-style content.
Structure content with headings, paragraphs, quotes, images, galleries, or callouts for readability.
Vary teaser styles to avoid repetitive feeds.
Include media and interactive elements to boost engagement.
Always preview your card before publishing.
If the Full Post option is not visible, it may be disabled by your admin — contact your organisation for details.
💡 Extra tip: The first heading, first paragraph, and first image automatically pre-fill the teaser, but you can customise it to make your card stand out.
