Simplify organisation and create richer user experiences with tchop’s new Tags feature.
Tags on cards is a feature designed to streamline your content organization, improve discoverability, and enhance the overall user experience.
What are tags on cards?
Tags are more than just labels. They are the backbone of efficient content organisation and discovery on the tchop platform.

With tags on cards, you can categorise content seamlessly using two distinct types: hidden tags for internal use and visible tags for community engagement. Let’s break them down.
Hidden tags
Hidden tags are designed for internal use within your organization. Here's how they work:
Organizational control: Org admins can define hidden tags via the organization settings. These tags are then available for use across the entire organization.
Admin and editor use: Only admins and editors can assign hidden tags while creating a card via the admin dashboard. These tags are not visible to users via the web app or mobile app.
Enhanced filtering and analytics: Hidden tags enable advanced filtering of cards within the admin dashboard, allowing you to quickly find specific content. Additionally, you can access card-specific analytics based on these tags.
Controlled visibility: Hidden tags are strictly for behind-the-scenes organization and management, ensuring that sensitive or administrative tags are not exposed to the broader audience.
Flexibility: Org admins can rename hidden tags, convert them to visible tags (and vice versa) without the need to retag the cards. They can also delete tags, which will immediately remove the tag from all associated cards.
Visible tags
Visible tags are designed for visibility and interaction within your community. Here's how they work:
Community engagement: Visible tags are visible to all users, including readers and those with editor-limited permissions. This openness allows anyone with the appropriate permissions to assign visible tags while creating a card via the web app, mobile app, or admin dashboard.
Discoverability: Clicking on a visible tag brings up a feed of all cards with the same tag, sorted by the posted time. This feature enhances content discoverability and allows users to easily find related content.
Organizational control: Org admins can define visible tags for the entire organization, ensuring consistent tagging across all content.
Flexibility: Org admins can rename visible tags, convert them to hidden tags (and vice versa) without the need to retag the cards. They can also delete tags, which will immediately remove the tag from all associated cards.
Managing tags in the admin dashboard
Admins can easily set up and manage all tag types through the Org Admin Settings. By navigating to the General tab, admins can:
Create new tags for both hidden and visible categories.
Edit existing tags, including renaming, deleting, or changing their visibility between hidden and visible.

Simplifying content creation with default tags
To make tagging even more efficient, you can define default tags at the mix level. This means that whenever a user creates a card inside a mix, the predefined hidden and visible tags are automatically assigned to the card. This feature saves time and ensures consistency in tagging without the need to manually select the same tags repeatedly.

Tag feed
One of the most powerful features of visible tags is the tag feed. The tag feed is accessible via the reader dashboard. Readers can view all cards tagged with a specific visible tag by clicking on the tag. This creates a dynamic, real-time feed of content that matches the tag, allowing users to discover related content easily.
Readers can access the tag feed by clicking on the visible tags on the card itself or via the list of visible tags on the right side (if enabled by admin). The list gets sorted automatically based on the latest card tag, so the tag will appear at the top if the card was created using that tag recently. This feature enhances discoverability and helps users engage with relevant content quickly.
Filtering and analytics made easy
With the introduction of tags on cards, we have also enhanced our filtering and analytics capabilities:
Advanced filtering: Admins and editors can filter cards based on both hidden and visible tags. This powerful feature allows you to quickly find and manage specific content.
Detailed analytics: Access card-specific analytics data based on hidden and visible tags. This data-driven approach enables you to gain insights into content performance and user engagement.
Reader access: Readers and users with limited editor permissions can see all cards tagged with visible tags, making it easier for them to discover and engage with relevant content.

How tags on cards enhance your tchop experience
Improved organization: Tags allow you to categorize and organize your content efficiently. Hidden tags help keep your backend organized, while visible tags make it easier for your community to find and engage with relevant content.
Better analytics: With hidden and visible tags, you can access detailed analytics on your content. This data-driven approach allows you to understand which types of content perform best and make informed decisions.
Enhanced user experience: Visible tags make content more discoverable and interactive for your users. By clicking on a tag, they can explore all related content, leading to a richer and more engaging experience.
Streamlined workflow: Default tags at the mix level simplify the content creation process. Users don't need to worry about manually adding tags, reducing the chance of errors and ensuring consistency.
Administrative flexibility: Org admins can rename tags, switch between hidden and visible tags without the need to retag cards, and delete tags as needed. This flexibility ensures that your tagging system remains dynamic and adaptable.
Potential personalization (planned): We are planning to introduce personalized content feeds based on the visible tags users follow. This means users will receive tailored content in their news feed, enhancing their engagement and satisfaction with the platform.
